Abstract

This research aims to find out and analyze the forms of written and stamped batik in Pawitah Batik Kebumen. Batik is Indonesia's cultural heritage which has been recognized by the United Nation Educational Scientific and Organization (UNESCO) since October 2 2009. Therefore, every October 2 is celebrated as Batik Day. Batik is also a national identity that must be maintained and preserved and recognized by other nations. Written batik is batik made using a writing technique using a canting tool. Stamped batik is batik cloth that is drawn to create a batik motif using a stamping technique with a copper tool. Batik motifs are a combination of shapes, lines and isen which are formed in a unified way so that they become the framework for the image on the cloth. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods. In this research, researchers used data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, data verification. The results of this research are analyzing written batik motifs and Pawitah batik stamps, namely written batik with gringsing motifs, written batik with srikit motifs, written batik with Jagatan motifs, and eco lawet stamped batik. This motif is then analyzed through the elements of fine art in batik, namely lines, planes, space, texture, color and value. Design principles consist of harmony, repetition, balance, proportion, dominance and movement.
