Abstract

Numeracy is one of the fundamental competencies that should be stimulated from an early age, including in children who show hyperactive symptoms and difficulty sustaining attention during learning. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Educational Game Tool (APE) “Feed The Cow Numbers” in improving the numeracy skills of a hyperactive five-year-old child. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a single subject research design, carried out through two assessment stages, before and after a play-based intervention. Data were collected through participatory observation, performance assessment, and documentation of seven numeracy indicators referring to the Indonesian Early Childhood Developmental Achievement Standard (STPPA). The results showed improvement in most indicators, including recognizing quantities of 1–5, understanding simple addition, recognizing simple visual patterns, and developing early logical and numerical thinking, although the subject still had difficulty when the number of objects counted exceeded five. These findings support the constructivist view that concrete, enjoyable, and interest-based learning experiences help hyperactive children sustain attention and optimize their understanding of number concepts. This study offers practical implications for early childhood teachers in designing inclusive and adaptive numeracy learning media for children with special attentional needs.
